About Tema Mission Technical Institute

Tema Mission Technical Institute is a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution regulated by the Ghana TVET Service, dedicated to providing both formal and informal training, as well as retraining, in employable skills for the youth. A recognized certificate, designated as CERT II (Intermediate) and issued by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training is awarded to students upon the successful completion of a three-year course of study at the institute. This qualification enables TVET graduates to further their education at any recognized technical university nationwide.

The Institute was established in 1981 to offer skill training to the youth of Tema by the Industrial Mission of the Tema Local Council of Churches under the Christian Council of Ghana. It was given accreditation by the NVTI and subsequently by the Ghana Education Service to run various courses. In May, 2010, an MOU was signed between the NVTI and The Tema Local Council of Churches for the absorption of the Institute by the NVTI. Trainees were expected to have both Centre and Industrial exposure before completion of the four (4) – year training programme which led to the award of NVTI foundation Certificate, Certificate I & II, after acquiring one year of industrial practical experience.
