About Don Bosco Technical Institute

Don Bosco Technical Institute forms “good Christians and upright citizens” through TVET education. Guided by Don Bosco’s Preventive System of reason, religion, and loving-kindness, we train youth in skills, character, and faith for dignified work, service, and responsible citizenship in Ghana.

Identity & Mission Don Bosco Technical Institute is a Catholic TVET institution run by the Salesians of Don Bosco in Ghana. Founded on the educational system of St. John Bosco, our mission is to form young people, especially the poor and marginalized, into competent professionals and upright citizens through the Preventive System of Reason, Religion, and Loving-kindness. We believe education is not just skill training, but formation of head, heart, and hands. 2. Vision To be a center of excellence in technical and vocational training that produces skilled, ethical, and employable youth who transform society with the spirit of Don Bosco. 3. History & Location Established in, Don Bosco Technical is located at Sunyani, Odumase, Bono region. Named after St. John Bosco, the 19th-century “Father and Teacher of Youth,” the school carries forward his dream of giving youth a “home, school, courtyard, and church” where they feel loved, safe, and prepared for life. 4. Academic & Technical Programs We offer 3-year TVET courses accredited by the Commission for TVET. Students combine classroom theory with 70% practical training in workshops. Current programs include: Electrical Installation/Basic solar, Electronics: Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Eng, Welding & Fabrication, Building Construction, Computer Hardware: Hardware, Create Arts, Fashion/Design, Wood Work Construction, Secretariate studies, Catering and Hospitality and Agric. Mech. Community Impact Don Bosco Tech serves over students from Ghana and neighboring countries. 70% of graduates gain employment, apprenticeship, or start small businesses within 6 months. We partner with local industries for industrial attachment and job placement. Through outreach, students repair community wiring, build school furniture, and run health/safety campaigns.

Major Achievements

Infrastructure & Learning Environment 4. Workshop Upgraded through VACE project for retooling of TVET institutions: Commissioned new Basic Solar + ICT Lab in 2023 through support from a donor. Introduction of Fashion/Design department through the support of CAMFED, Ghana and Jacob Adams Foundation, Germany Base NGO. Zero-tolerance on Drugs: 5-year “Drug-Free Campus” campaign with Police. Recorded 90% reduction in disciplinary cases 2021→2025. 95% CTVET Performance for the best five years. Graduate Outcomes: 60% of 2021-2025 graduates employed, self-employed, or in apprenticeship within 6 months. Alumni group “Don Bosco Past Pupils” now supports 20 poor students annually. About 25% further their education various Technical Universities. The school has also undertaken staff capacity building activities to sharpen their skills and knowledge.
