Sunyani Technical Institute now offers 11 youth-focused courses while promoting co-curricular activities for holistic development
Sunyani Technical Institute (STI) is a leading technical and vocational education institution located in Sunyani Area 4, on the STU-VRA Road, opposite the old Nimpong Hotel in the Bono Region of Ghana. The Institute is dedicated to equipping young Ghanaians with practical skills, technical knowledge, and values that prepare them for employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning. OUR HISTORY The institution has a proud heritage that dates back to 1965, when it was established as two separate adult training centers under the Department of Community Development. Each center operated independently and was headed by its own Principal, providing skills training and educational opportunities to adults within the region. A major milestone was achieved in 2015 when the two schools were merged under a single Principal. This integration strengthened administration, improved resource utilization, and enhanced the quality of training and service delivery. In 2022, the institution was officially rebranded as Sunyani Technical Institute, reflecting its expanded mandate and commitment to providing modern technical and vocational education to Ghanaian youth. ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES Sunyani Technical Institute currently offers 11 technical and vocational courses designed to meet industry demands and equip students with employable skills. The institute combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical training to ensure graduates are well prepared for the world of work and self-employment.
