About Ho Technical Institute
Ho Technical Institute is a pre-tertiary TVET institution in Ho in the Volta Region. Courses offered in the institute are Electrical Engineering Technology, Hospitality and Catering management, Building Construction Technology, Fashion Designing Technology and Wood Construction Technology. It is both a day and boarding school and offers admission to both males and females. The school is populated with over 850 students and over 50 working staff.
Ho Technical Institute is a pre-tertiary TVET institution located in Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana. Ho Technical Institute was once called Social Welfare Vocational and Training Centre. When TVET was fully established and brought under one umbrella under the Ministry of Education. The school was captured and the name of the school was changed to Ho Technical Institute in the year 2021. Prior to the name change, the programmes that were offered in the school were purely NVTI courses, where when students graduate from the school, they are awarded with Certificate 1. Currently, the NVTI programmes are not run in the school except TVET programmes. Students are awarded with National Certificate 2 after they write their CTVET examination. This certificate grants them the opportunity to advance into the various technical universities in the country. Students are well taught in the school with the required knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that will equip them for their future endeavors in entrepreneurship and in the job market.
Students in Ho Technical Institute go for for workplace experience learning (WEL) when they are on vacation for them to have a glimpse of how the industry works and also to help them learn with advanced systems in the industry. The admission rate of the school has increased over time as well as the number of staff. The current population of students is over 850 and the current population of staff is over 50. Due to inadequate infrastructure, the school runs a double track system in order to cater for the number of students. The school has both day and boarding facilities. Aside, academic work, students are excellent in co-curricular activities such as volleyball, football and the arts.
