About Kumawu Technical Institute
Kumawu Technical Institute formerly Kumawuman Institute of Skills Training (KIST) was established in 2003 through the initiative of Mr. Castro Amoako, a renowned businessman and philanthropist from Kumawu to: admit and train the youth in the Kumawu community and its environs in practical skills that will offer them immediate self and wage employment. Kumawu Technical Institute is one of the 34 National Vocational Training Institutes (NVTI) schools in Ghana. NVTI is a Ghana Government Agency that has the mandate to coordinate all aspects of vocational training, including apprenticeship, testing and certification in Ghana. The institution is currently under the Ghana TVET Service.

The Institute is located in the Sekyere Kumawu District of Ashanti Region in Ghana. The school runs courses for both male, female youths and adults in General Electricals, Masonry (Building Construction) and Fashion and Design Technology. The institute’s catchment area covers four sister Districts namely; Sekyere East –Effiduase, Sekyere Afram Plains-Drobonso, Sekyere Kumawu and Sekyere Central-Nsuta in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
