About Offinso Technical Institute

The Offinso Technical Institute (formally Amoawi Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills –ICCES ) was established on the 4th of August 2004 by the able leadership of constituency woman organizer Maame Yaa Manu of Amoawi and the Chief and people of the Amoawi community, although the school stated from an abandoned cocoa shed in the Amoawi community, but after some time the first centre manager of the school Mr Alex Addai in consultation with Chiefs and people of Amoawi and the Chief of Adiembra move the school to another abandoned 10 unit classroom block built by the Adiembra community on an 8acre land.
Moreover, the school has gone through various phases in its quest to become one of the best TVET institutions in the Offinso South municipality and the region at large. Currently, the school is benefiting from the government FREE education policy as a result of re-alignment of all Technical and Vocational institution in Ghana under one umbrella known as Ghana TVET service. Additionally, the school is poise in delivering its core mandate of training the youth to acquire an industry led training to fill the gap between the industry and the academia by empowering them with the right acquisition of skills and expertise to curtail the youth unemployment in the country.
Offinso Technical Institute [OTI] is a public technical and vocational education and training [TVET] institution located in the Offinso south municipality of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The institute was originally initiated by the government of Ghana to provide non-formal, community –based vocational skills training for out of school youth and artisans As an ICCES centre, the institution focused on imparting practical , employable skills in various vocational and technical trades with the aim of promoting self-employment ,poverty reduction ,rural urban drift and community development .overtime in response to educational reforms and the growing national emphasis on structured technical education , the centre upgraded and absorbed into the formal TVET system . Following the establishment of the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training [GTVET] service and in line with the national TVET reforms, the institution was reclassified and renamed OFFINSO TECHNICAL INSTITUTE. This transition marked a shift from non –formal skills training to formal competency based technical education operating under approved curricula ,assessment frameworks and quality assurance mechanisms.
Today Offinso Technical Institute operates as a public technical institute under GTVET service delivering industry relevant programmes designed to equip learners with technical competency ,entrepreneurial skills and work ethics consistent with national development priorities and labour market needs .The Institute continues to uphold it’s founding philosophy of skills development , captured in its motto making you self dependent
